Ben Dickinson

After growing up in Pennsylvania and Connecticut, I attended college in Ohio before moving and making my home in Seattle, Washington in 1994. For over twenty years I have worked in construction mostly building custom homes. During these years I tried to keep a connection with my art and painting. Now, I'm starting a new chapter in my life. I have started my own small business and am making a concerted effort to paint more. In the summer of 2020 I moved to Walla Walla, WA where I now make my home and am embracing a new adventure.

A lover of nature and the outdoors, I enjoy travel and painting from my experiences. Wherever I go, home or abroad, near or far, my eye is drawn to the visually interesting and I'm always finding ideas to paint whether it be obviously beautiful or tucked within the mundane.

What I Do

Painting with acrylics, most of my works are on wood or canvas.  The range of my interests and types of paintings are limited only by our imagination... from small abstracts painted on plywood to landscapes to large canvas abstracts.  I find my inspiration in my experiences, travel, nature and my own creativity working with color, texture and space.

My inspiration starts with my family. My dad is a writer and an accomplished photographer with a great eye. He currently utilizes his talents working for a southwest Florida newspaper. My mom has been involved in the arts for as long as I can remember. She continues to paint and show her art at juried art shows in Florida where she has won numerous awards. Some of my favorite artists include Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollack, Joan Miro, Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, Auguste Renoir, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet.
